A day in the life of our Executive Vice President

Nate Damro, Executive Vice President at REID Lifting Inc

From being responsible for growing REID’s business presence in the USA to conducting socially distanced live product demos, Nate Damro, Executive Vice President at REID Lifting Inc shares an insight in to his daily working life.

Working Day

I’m responsible for the growing team and the growing business in North America, as REID sets off on our exciting journey here. Historically, REID products were sold through a master distributor, but REID Lifting Inc has been a legal entity now since the start of 2020.

We have a sales office in Minneapolis, three direct employees and our own warehouse in Massachusetts, which holds plenty of stock all bespoke to the US with imperial sizing and fully tested and accredited to US specific standards.

Like most jobs, no two days are ever the same, but I can be sure that I’ll be spending time talking to sales people, working with the team here, visiting users, partners and resellers and focusing on supporting our growing band of customers.

Even in these days of socially distanced live demos and zoom presentations, all of us at REID Lifting Inc are just at the end of the phone to provide help and advice and we’re still getting out and about as much as we can to drive demand for our products and deliver great service.

When did you join REID Lifting?

January 2020

What was your first job?

I was a Chemical Process Engineer for Ecolab, in Eagan, Minnesota.

What businessperson do you admire/inspires you?

Elon Musk. He may be controversial, but he’s a truly visionary engineer who is transforming the world of transportation in ways none of us could have imagined just a few years ago.

What is your best business achievement?

First as VP Global Marketing and then as President EMEA at Capital Safety, I helped increase the value of the company from 1.12B to 2.5B between 2012 and 2015, before it was sold to 3M. Beyond the financial success though, I know that the products we developed are still keeping workers safe around the world to this day.

What would you do if you weren’t in the industry?

I think I’d have made a really good chef.

Most useful/favourite gadget?

My Airpods. They can drown out background noise almost anywhere but mean I’m also ready to jump to a call when it comes in. They’re also great to run with of course.

Website/App you couldn’t live without?

GoogleMaps would be my number one, but Apple Podcasts comes a very close second.

Favourite DESTINATION/pLACE IN THE WORLD?

I really enjoy travel, and I’ve been lucky enough to see much of the world. In the UK, I couldn’t choose between London & Edinburgh, in the States, I love Madison, WI & Southern California. My choice would be St John in the US Virgin Islands.

Favourite hobby/pastime?

I love to run. My fastest ever Marathon was 3.06, although those days may be behind me now! Back in 2017, I actually found the 9th Parkrun in the US in Eagan, and that has become a great little fitness community. We’re just about to hit our 3rd birthday, once we can get up and ‘running’ again.
